#53- Make an apple pie

What better occassion to make my first apple pie than Thanksgiving? I am happy with how my first apple pie turned out although I don’t think anyone would have told me if it wasn’t good! I used a recipe that my mom uses and loves though so I assume everyone told me the truth when they said they liked it. I did cheat and use Pillsbury ready made pie crust so I still have that part to conquer one day. I always thought it would be a lot of work, cutting the apples and all that but it was actually pretty easy and a lot of fun.  Thanks to my lovely assistant, Shania!

#85- Make a nice dinner for my parents

My parents were recently in town from Virginia so I had the chance to make a nice Sunday dinner for them.  I’ve put off making cornish game hens for years but thought they would be a nice dish to make for my mom and dad. They turned out well! I also made roasted yukon gold potatoes, brocolli, corn, and rolls. I made brownie cupcakes for dessert, with Shania’s help! 🙂

#57- Buy a really cute apron

As much as I love to bake and cook, I’ve never had a nice apron before! I have a couple of plain ones- a boring blue one from when I was a flight attendant and a white one that I wore for a promotional job for Pringles (which of course says Pringles in big letters). So, I finally ordered a cute apron (from flirtyaprons.com) that I will actually wear.  I can’t pretend to be a homemaker without it! 😉
